MAJ '77 ASSOCIATION

The statutory objective of Maj'77 Association is to promote democratic rule of law, the protection of human rights and civil liberties and the promotion of cultural, scientific and educational initiatives. The Association also sets itself the task of building young people's historical awareness thus commemorating Polish history, the opposition movement, including the independent opposition and the activities of the Student Solidarity Committee.
Maj'77 Association pursues its objectives through meetings, conferences, film screenings and participates in debates with young people. It also supports institutions and organizations through information and education activity. It gathers data and documents relating to the democratic opposition and the independent student movement.

Maj'77 Association runs an information website about the activities of Maj'77 Association intended to raise awareness about the activities of SKS (Student Solidarity Committee).
This site is also devoted to the creation of the archive materials on the establishment and the fate of the SKS.

Maj?77 Association was founded in March 2002, as a successor of Student Solidarity Committee (SKS), an independent student organisation established in 1977 (Krakow, Poland).
In May this year the Management Board of Maj'77 Association received the Mayor of Krakow "Honoris Gratia" medal granted to Student Solidarity Committee.
